Green Lantern
A ring that builds whatever you can picture, powered by willpower and stopped by nothing except your own nerve. It is the best premise in DC: the limit is never the ring, it is the person wearing it, which means every story is really about whether they hold steady.
I came to it the way I came to all of DC, through the cartoons, and John Stewart is the Lantern I grew up with. Not the comics, and not the 2011 film, which took an idea about imagination and spent it on a cloud.
