Spider-Man
The one superhero whose problems are the same size as everyone else’s. Every spider in the multiverse, the rogues who make it personal, and the films and games worth the time.
With great power there must also come great responsibility.Amazing Fantasy No. 15 · 1962
The web-shooters are the whole character in one object. Peter built them himself, at fifteen, in a bedroom in Queens: the spider gave him the strength, but the physics, the chemistry and the engineering are his. Every version that skips them and makes the webs organic loses something load-bearing.
He is the best superhero there is because the powers are the easy part. The hard part is that he is always broke, always late, always letting somebody down, and he goes out anyway.
