Who I am · the voice1920 – 1969
الشيخ محمد صديق المنشاوي
Al-Minshāwī
Shaykh Muḥammad Ṣiddīq al-Minshāwī. Born in Upper Egypt in 1920 into a family that recited for a living, dead at forty-nine, and in between: the voice a very large part of the Muslim world (this house emphatically included) hears the Qurʾān in.
He gets his own page for the same reason Egypt and the Qurʾān get theirs. The Book has a page about what it is; this one is about what it sounds like, because I heard it in this voice years before I could read a word of it.
