   iOS App Development Teacher · STEM Heroes Academy

   The teaching job from senior year of high school, carried through both college years.

   • Launched the academy’s first iOS App Development course as its youngest instructor, teaching Swift, Swift Playgrounds, and SwiftUI to 30+ students (ages 8–14) who each shipped a working app over two years.
   • Taught Python at the academy as well as iOS.

2. Mar 2025 – nowpart-time · remote

   Lead Mobile & Backend Developer · UCI Student Center & Event Services

   The job behind the campus apps below: three production App Store apps I own and ship for the Student Center.

   • Own and ship three App Store apps: 100K+ installs, 3.2M+ sessions (UCI Now, ZOTFinder, Esports).
   • Shipped UCI Esports solo: 15K-line SwiftUI client plus a Node.js backend on AWS Lambda/DynamoDB with role-based staff auth.
   • Lead a 4+ person Android team, running hiring, technical interviews, and code review.
   • Own the AWS infrastructure and Python backends behind the department’s apps.
   • Cut load times 40% rebuilding two apps from UIKit to SwiftUI, extending both to Mac and Vision Pro.
   • Cut crashes 85% (10.4K to under 1.5K/month) refactoring a decade-old codebase with 20+ dependencies.
   • Built UCI Esports from the first line: ~15.4K lines of SwiftUI on iPhone, iPad and Mac, live PC availability from the arena’s own system, events from the program’s Google Calendar, sign-in with UCInetID, and a backend with 85 tests.
   • Rebuilt UCI Now and ZOTFinder on async/await structured concurrency, extending both to iPad as well as Mac and Vision Pro.
   • Maintain 20+ CocoaPods dependencies across the apps (Google Maps, Firebase, Alamofire, SwiftyJSON) and ship every release through App Store Connect and TestFlight.
   • Maintain SCES Real-Time Ops, the internal app the operations teams run their shifts on: every release from 2.7.4 to 2.8.2, a 45-bug sweep across app and backend, and a 14-document handbook.
   • Work directly with campus departments and explain the engineering to non-technical staff.

3. Nov 2025 – nowlead since Feb 2026

   Lead Software Developer · ICS Student Council (ICSSC)

   Joined as a developer on PeterPlate in November 2025 and moved up to lead its engineering team three months later.

   • Lead a 12-person engineering team building PeterPlate, ICSSC’s open-source campus dining platform, live in production on web and iOS, serving menu, allergen, nutrition, and ratings data.
   • Built a type-safe frontend with Next.js (React), TypeScript, Zustand, Tailwind CSS, and shadcn/ui.
   • Shipped a scalable serverless backend by pairing tRPC with Drizzle ORM on a 13-table PostgreSQL schema, deployed to AWS Lambda and RDS via GitHub Actions CI/CD with Docker + Testcontainers tests.

   Where the job began: developing and maintaining UCI’s official iOS apps, UCI Now and ZOTFinder, in UIKit, implementing new features, fixing bugs and optimising performance, and integrating real-time campus data, location services and APIs with campus departments.    • Co-founded the UCI chapter of MTC, a national organization empowering Muslims in tech through education, professional development, community projects and workshops.
   • Lead and manage every project-based initiative: client consulting, technical workshops, and beginner development programs.
   • Coordinate cross-functional teams building websites, tools and apps for masjids, nonprofits and Muslim-owned businesses.
   • Moved up through the chapter: VP of Workshops, then VP of Projects, and now Vice President.

   Took this on at the start of second year, running the social side for the brothers at UCI MSU. Handed it over at the end of the year and moved to dawah.

   Ignite Consulting · Muslim Tech Collaborative

   Came up with Ignite Consulting and kickstarted it under MTC in my second year, alongside the VP role above. It puts students on real client projects with experienced mentors, and it runs across three chapters: UCI, UCR and CSUF.

CliftonStrengths Maximizer · Relator · Positivity

The Student Center & Event Services team took Gallup’s CliftonStrengths assessment, which ranks 34 themes and gives you your top five. Mine came out Maximizer, Relator, Positivity, Communication and Adaptability: four of the five sit in Gallup’s yellow domain, influencing and relationship-building rather than analysis, which surprised me for someone who writes code all day.

Everyone made a name tent for their desk. One felt like a waste of a good excuse, so I made three, each a LEGO character who fit the yellow band: Anakin Skywalker, the Gold Ninja from Ninjago, and Mr. Gold, the rarest minifigure LEGO ever made.
